Elo Touch Technology
Elo TouchSystems has no less than 8 touch technologies which
are used in their touch screen terminals. Each technology
has it specific characteristics and properties.
By means of a number of criteria you can examine which touch
screen techology suits your application best.
The market in which you wish to use the touch screen technology
is already an important fact. The way touch monitors
are used clearly differs from market to market.
Eight Elo touch technologies used in touch monitors
AccuTouch, also called 5-wire resistive touch
technology, is one of the most successful Elo technologies.
This touch technology uses a polyester overlay , which
makes it water and dust resistant. The AccuTouch technology
is reliable and precise and can be touched with any stylus
even with wet hands.
AT4 is just like AccuTouch a resistive Elo technology.
The difference is that these 4-wire touch screens are only
available in smaller dimensions. You can find these touch
screens
especially
in pocket PC's, GPS systems, domotica and light industrial
applications.
IntelliTouch is a technology extremely suitable
for public use. IntelliTouch exits out of a glass panel with
reflectors, senders and receivers. Emitters send sound waves
over the panel and when one touches the panel with a finger,
the sound waves are absorbed at that point. The intelligent
controller will recognize this as a touch.
SecureTouch works according to the same principle
as IntelliTouch, but has a thicker hardened glass plate. This
technology is therefore ideal for busy places or spaces without
supervision, for example for selfbanking, ATM's or museums.
iTouch is the third variant of the "surface
wave" family. The touch screen sensors are introduced
directly on the existing CRT monitors. This way picture
quality
is preserved. An additional advantage is the attractive price
of these touch screen monitors.
CarrollTouch combines a number of advantages of
both AccuTouch and IntelliTouch. This touch technology
works on the basis of infra red indicators which are interrupted
at contact. This guarantees an accurate and fast functioning
under nearly all circumstances. Also outside or in surroundings
where vandalism can occur, CarrollTouch provide perfect
results.
Projected Capacitive makes it possible to use shop
windows as a touch screen. Also outdoor and
in risky
surroundings
Projected Capacitive has its advantages. The Projected Capacitive
technology can detect a touch through the glass. Touch screen
monitors with Projected Capacitive technology can be installed
behind a window.
The Surface Capacitive touch technology creates
a field from the four angles of the monitor. Where the
touch screen monitor is touched, one disturbs the field
and the
controller measures the coordinates of the contact. Possible
markets for Surface Capacitive are mainly Point or Information
and gaming.
